Welcome to Inside Infra for November, 2024

Two November Roundtables

Infra held two Roundtables this month. The November 6 meeting was at 1700 UTC (more convenient for folks in Europe and North America) and the meeting on the 13th was at 1000 UTC in hopes that ASF folks in Asia and Australia would be able to attend.

The topic at both meetings was Phishing attempts, spam, and code security. Drew Folks led a presentation on maintaining information confidentiality, availability, and integrity. At both meetings the conversation was wide-ranging, with speculation and ideas about how to achieve those goals better at the ASF.

Summaries of the conversations are here:

December roundtable

The next roundtable will be Wednesday, December 4, 1700 UTC. The main topic will be a deep dive into asf.yaml, the Swiss Army Knife of ASF build utilities.

See this page for details about how to join a roundtable, and what happens at it.

A message from the VP-Infra

Please welcome Chris Lambertus to the role of interim Infrastructure Administrator at The Apache Software Foundation. Chris has worked for Infra for many years, and is imminently capable. I look forward to working with you Chris.

Please also join me in thanking Greg Stein for his many years of service in the role of Infrastructure Administrator. He's been instrumental in defining the role and forming the current team. Thank you, Greg.

Best Regards,

Myrle Krantz

ASF Writers

Infra team member Andrew Wetmore has started a Slack channel for people whose main contribution to The ASF and its projects is through writing–documentation, marketing materials, tutorials, and much more. The 'ASF-writers' channel is in the the-asf workspace on Slack. The group meets next on Friday, December 6, 1700 UTC, in the channel's huddle.
